MDP Denies Misleading Public to Attack any Independent Institutions

The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) denied allegations that the party had persuaded the public to disrespect any independent institution alleged by the opposition Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) activists. MDP says any allegation against the party on misleading the public or pushing them to disrespect and attack any independent commission is untrue.

The DRP accused the MDP of leading the public to enter the Civil Service Commission to show anger without giving details.

The Civil Service Commission that mulled the authority after government refused to pay full salary reduced by a decree to pump out the inflating budget squeezing hardship of government employees had been in the critical spot light.

The interim president of the party and also the Presidential Special Envoy Mr. Ibrahim Hussain Zaki said that the speculation from the DRP are phony and accused of provoking hatred in the public from the DRP.

He said the actions by individuals shouting and disturbing the civil service commission during office hours were not triggered by the MDP and the party condemns the act. He DRP cannot blame the MDP for misbehavior and hooliganism of individuals infiltrating independent institutions.

Police has said that it had been investigating a complaint made by the civil service commission after some individuals annoyed the commission during office hours. MDP said that they are calling concerned authorities to investigate the case.
